A home, or domicile, is a space used as a permanent or semi-permanent residence for one or several humans. It is a fully or semi sheltered space and can have both interior and exterior aspects to it.
Colloquially, properties located on a plot of land (and not part of a residential complex) tend to be called houses, as opposed to apartments or condos.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, a housing unit is a residential unit that acts as separate living quarters and is either occupied or intended for occupancy. It can include a house, an apartment, a condominium, a mobile home, a group of rooms, or even a single room within a larger structure, under the condition that an individual or a family considers it to be their official residence.
